BELGRADE ? The Serbian movement Dveri proposed Thursday that Pride Parade be banned in the country based on a Russian legislation model which they say prohibits any promotion of the ideology of homosexuality before minors.
Dveri official Vlada Glisic said that the movement?s request to ban this year?s gay pride event is in no way a discrimination and violation of human rights but rather a commitment to family values.
He announced movement members protesting against the ?anti-family gathering? in front of the Serbian government on September 28, when the parade should take place.
?We have every right to ask for enacting a piece of legislation similar to the one that is in force in Russia,? Glisic told a press conference.
The committee organizing the Belgrade Pride Week 2013 has said recently that the police has not given it a clear answer about whether the pride walk will be banned or not as a security assessment has not yet been made.
