Our client is an established, privately owned business that specialises in the design, build and maintenance of data centre and server room environments for major clients in the private and public sectors throughout the UK. Due to their continued success, they are now looking for a Business Development Manager to join their team.

This is a very exciting opportunity for an ambitious infrastructure solutions sales professional to become an important part of an expanding and successful company.

As a Business Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to influence this leading company's direction and future success through your sales contribution.

Focusing on new business development, you will be responsible for the full sales cycle. This will include prospecting, qualifying marketing generated leads, developing solutions in collaboration with pre-sales architects, presenting proposals and developing relationships with key stakeholders and CE level decision makers.

Your duties will include:

- Identifying and developing sales prospects
- Developing and maintaining relationships with clients
- Account management and contract maintenance
- Managing and maintaining new business proposals and the opportunity pipeline/forecast
- Developing proposals and presenting to senior decision makers

To be considered, you must have:

- Experience of driving large, new business wins throughout the entire sales cycle
- A proven track record of selling infrastructure solutions into large private and public sector organisations (not server or software sales)
- An exceptional level of IT literacy
- A driving licence

As a Business Development Manager, you must be able to translate technical solutions into business value at senior level. Equally important is your excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal, and your superb skills at presenting at CE level.

An understanding of the data centre market and the opportunities it provides would be an advantage to your application. An understanding of mechanical and electrical design solutions for the data centre industry, with particular expertise in power and cooling solutions, would also be an advantage.

FDA approves Medivation prostate cancer drug

(Reuters) - A novel prostate cancer drug developed by Medivation Inc and Astellas Pharma Inc has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for men whose cancer has spread despite treatment with hormone therapy and chemotherapy, the agency said on Friday.

Approval of the pill, to be sold under the brand name Xtandi, comes three months ahead of the agency's late-November decision deadline and sent shares of Medivation up 7.6 percent.

Wall Street analysts, on average, have forecast Medivation's sales of the drug at $1.2 billion by 2017, according to Thomson Pharma.

Xtandi, or enzalutamide, is one of a new class of drugs known as androgen inhibitors, designed to interfere with the ability of testosterone to bind to prostate cancer cells. Testosterone is the male hormone that fuels prostate cancer cell growth.

Medivation said it would begin selling the drug in the United States in mid-September at a wholesale price of $7,450 for a 30-day supply. Trial patients, on average, used the drug for eight months, the company said.

Medivation and Astellas, which have also filed for European approval, reported in November that a pivotal study of the drug had been stopped early after it became clear that it improved median overall survival by 4.8 months compared with a placebo.

The pill is also being tested in men with earlier stage prostate cancer, but Medivation has not said when those results are expected.

"The real opportunity for Xtandi is in pre-chemotherapy," Sanford Bernstein analyst Geoffrey Porges said in a research note.

He estimated that 18,000 to 20,000 U.S. prostate cancer patients receive chemotherapy every year and 4,000 to 5,000 eventually progress to other treatments.

"I am confident that this is only the beginning of success stories with this agent and that it will be used in earlier stages of prostate cancer in the near future," Dr. E. David Crawford, head of the urologic oncology department at the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and chairman of the Prostate Conditions Education Council, said in a statement.

The FDA last year approved Johnson & Johnson's Zytiga, which is designed to work inside cancer cells to block testosterone production.

"The need for additional treatment options for advanced prostate cancer continues to be important for patients," Richard Pazdur, director of hematology and oncology products at the FDA's drug evaluation and research center, said in a statement. "Xtandi is the latest treatment for this disease to demonstrate its ability to extend a patient's life."

Xtandi "should have comparable or higher sales than Zytiga because it appears to have superior efficacy and had no serious adverse events in clinical trials," said ThinkEquity analyst Kimberly Lee.

Zytiga's worldwide sales rose about $32 million to $232 million in the second quarter from the first quarter.

Prostate cancer kills about 250,000 men a year globally and is the second most common cause of cancer death in men in the United States, after lung cancer.

The most common side effects seen with Xtandi were weakness, fatigue and back pain. The FDA said seizures occurred in about 1 percent of patients and they were taken off the therapy.

The FDA required that Medivation conduct a post-marketing study to further determine the seizure risk of Xtandi.

Medivation said the FDA approval and European regulatory filing trigger milestone payments from Astellas of $35 million, 10 percent of which it is obligated to pay to the University of California, Los Angeles under a licensing agreement.

Shares of Medivation gained $7.44, or 7.6 percent, to $104.86 on Nasdaq.

Shares of Japan-based Astellas closed down less than a percentage point at 3,820 yen in Tokyo, ahead of the announcement.

I watched Clint Eastwood struggle at the Republican national convention on Thursday night. I died a thousand deaths for the film legend as he stumbled over words and searched in vain to remember the jokes and applause lines he surely imagined delivering with graceful timing and easy charm. It wasn?t a complete failure, but it was damn near close, and I know why: He thought he could wing it.

I used to be an actor. I?ve been on hundreds of auditions and performed in front of large crowds. I learned the hard way that when speaking to an audience there is no substitute for preparation. Clint?s an actor, of course, and a far better one than I could ever be, but he made a real rookie mistake in thinking he could wing it.

Some people think they?re naturally charming. They think they can stand in front of a crowd and riff for a while and it will seem casual, unhurried, and intellectually coherent. ?I know what I?m going to say,? they?ll tell you ahead of time if you ask about the presentation they are giving to the board of directors or the little talk they have offered to give to the church picnic. That?s a killer. For as sure as rain makes applesauce if you haven?t prepared?if you haven?t rehearsed exactly what you?re going to say?you will step? onto that stage, or up to that podium, or in front of that church picnic, and your mouth will dry up. Your heart will start racing. Your mind will go blank. And all those clever lines you imagined yourself delivering will be replaced by:

They?re looking at me. I?m failing. What was I going to say? What the hell was I going to say?

Do you think Clint Eastwood rehearsed that bit where he talked with the empty chair as if it was President Obama? Do you think Clint Eastwood wrote it all down? I don?t think so. I think he thought, ?I know what I?m going to say.? I think he felt lucky.?And the results were, well, less than stellar.

I?ve served as the best man at two weddings. As everyone knows, the best man has two jobs: hold onto the ring and give the toast at the reception. In both cases, I was able to successfully hang onto the ring, but the toast was a total flop. Why? Because I didn?t practice. I didn?t write anything down. I didn?t, in truth, do much of anything to prepare. I just thought I knew what I was going to say. I thought lightning would strike.

I also delivered the eulogy at my mother?s funeral. Unlike the wedding toasts, this worked out well. I wrote it out. I edited it. I practiced. Knowing that I would be under intense emotional pressure, I resolved to focus all of my attention on reading the words I had written. No dramatic pauses. No attempts at eye contact. No laugh lines or rhetorical flourishes. I would just read the words.

And it worked. It worked because there is no substitute for preparing for an appearance before a crowd. You simply cannot take to a stage in front of a gathering of strangers, no matter how small or large that gathering may be, and expect to get lucky. You will lose. You will lose every time.

Funnily enough, Clint Eastwood?s awkward and prime-time consuming performance meant that Marco Rubio and Mitt Romney, who took the stage after him, had less wiggle room in a tightly scripted program than they were expecting. Rubio was especially squeezed, as he was undoubtedly told that he needed to leave enough time for the bulk of Romney?s speech to be delivered during the 10-11 p.m. hour on the east coast. I have no doubt that some producer or stage manager told the Florida senator right before he stepped on stage, ?You?ve got 7 minutes less than you thought you had. Don?t go long. Don?t? step on the governor?s time. We?ll cut you off. Don?t. Go. Long. ?

Rubio ended up giving the speech of his life, in large part because he had no time to think, or to emote, or?truly?to act. Every speech is made better by having to deliver it in less time than you think it needs. So many of these politicians think they?re God?s oratorical gift to man. They think they?ve got it. They think they have the natural charm to take an audience on an unforgettable emotional ride. Rubio may in fact have that natural charm, I don?t know, but last night he obeyed Hamlet?s timeless command to all public speakers everywhere to ?speak the speech trippingly on the tongue.? He just said the words. And the words did his job for him.

People are now talking seriously about Rubio as a future president. He can thank Clint Eastwood for forcing him to pick up the pace. And we can all thank the film legend for reminding us that there is no substitute for preparation.

Eastwood goes off-script in Romney endorsement

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) ? Clint Eastwood, the Hollywood filmmaker who knows all about sticking to the script, turned in a bizarre, unscripted endorsement of Republican Mitt Romney Thursday night.

Standing on the convention stage with an empty chair, Eastwood carried on a sometimes rambling conversation with an imaginary President Barack Obama. The Oscar-winning director of "Unforgiven" and "Million Dollar Baby" criticized Obama for failing to turn the economy around and for wanting to close the Guantanamo Bay prison for terror suspects.

"How do you handle the promises you've made? What do you say?" Eastwood asked the imaginary Obama. "I know even some of the people in your party were disappointed you didn't close Gitmo," the Guantanamo prison.

"What do you mean 'shut up'?" said Eastwood, acting indignant. "I thought it was just because somebody had a stupid idea of trying terrorists in New York City."

At another point, the 82-year-old Eastwood acted as if he were listening to the imaginary Obama unleash a diatribe against Romney, poking Vice President Joe Biden and letting the convention audience guess what the president said.

"He can't do that to himself. You're absolutely crazy!" Eastwood responded. "You're getting as bad as Biden. Biden is the intellect in the Democratic Party. It's just kind of a grin with a body behind it."

The actor and director talked about Oprah Winfrey, the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and lawyers. Eastwood said Obama has failed to deliver on his promises and it's time for Romney and his running mate, Paul Ryan, to take over.

At one point, Eastwood talked about the need for change.

"When somebody doesn't do the job, you gotta let 'em go," Eastwood said. The tough-guy actor of "Dirty Harry" fame drew a finger across his throat.

The crowd cheered Eastwood's entrance and shouted his famed catchphrase, "Go ahead, make my day." The freewheeling performance was a sharp contrast to the highly choreographed convention in which the Romney campaign has vetted the speeches.

Backstage, stern-faced Romney aides winced at times as Eastwood's remarks stretched on. The actor was the only speaker not reading from a teleprompter as he spoke. The machine was blank.

Twitter was instantly ablaze with comments mocking Eastwood's rambling speech.

Howard Kurtz, host of CNN's "Reliable Sources," tweeted that "Clint's empty chair act" was the "weirdest convention moment I have ever seen." Joe Scarborough, the conservative host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," declared "a great night for Mitt Romney just got sidetracked by Clint Eastwood. Wow. That was bad."

Minutes after Eastwood began his speech, someone created the (at)InvisibleObama account on Twitter. It already has 17,000 followers and counting.

"Clint Eastwood is now backstage arguing with a vending machine," joked Canadian comedian Daryn Jones.

Film critic Roger Ebert didn't give the speech two thumbs up.

"Clint, my hero, is coming across as sad and pathetic," tweeted Ebert. "He didn't need to do this to himself. It's unworthy of him."

Comedian Roseanne Barr put it simply: "clint eastwood is CRAY" ? a slang reference to being crazy.

Not everyone agreed.

"Clint Eastwood made my day," tweeted Southern rocker Charlie Daniels. The Hollywood trades gave it positive marks, perhaps a reflection of the movie world's appreciation for genuineness.

Eastwood, a fiscal conservative who leans left on social issues, has confounded the political world. He starred in Chrysler's "It's Halftime in America" Super Bowl ad earlier this year even though he opposes government bailouts. The commercial angered conservatives.

Eastwood endorsed Romney earlier this month at a campaign event in Sun Valley, Idaho.
