How to choose perfect sleeping bag | Articles On Insurance

We all love shopping. We are buying all sorts of different products that we either like, or someone recommended it, or they are on special and we think that we will need them in future. There are also specialty products that we should pay a little more attention to while buying. These are usually sport gear like sleeping bag for example. You can buy obviously cheep bag that will suit the occasion, but it will not only loose its qualities after few trips, it will not be suitable for more challenging expeditions, that require more complex gear.

The easiest choice is between down and synthetic sleeping bag. It simply depends if you need to carry it for a long time or if you can pack it to the car and use it only while camping. Choose down when you go hiking, mountaineering, rock climbing or even backpacking. Down is best when you need good warmth to weight ratio and when every gram counts. Synthetic bags are sufficient for all sort of camping, sailing and traveling where you don?t have to worry about the weight or size of your stuff.

If your trip requires more sophisticated product or if you want to make good investment for years you should always check the type of down that is used for filling. There are generally two types of down ? duck and goose. Duck is cheaper and widely used in made in Asia products. Those bags will not last as long as goose ones and they will not loft as well as goose which means they won?t be as warm. Always choose European goose down if you want unquestionable quality.

Fabric is crucial if you are choosing expedition down bag. The lighter and stronger fabric the lighter obviously the bag is in your backpack. There are fabrics using nano technology for production. They are specially designed for high mountaineering. They are extremely light and strong. Good quality expedition bags should have DRI water resistant coating that prevents moisture from affecting down. There are also waterproof fabrics available for down bags that are constantly in contact with water. Those fabrics are thick and heavy and they are compressing to a bigger size pack.

Going trekking, mountaineering or camping? Excellent. Choose sleeping bag that is the most suitable for the adventure that you plan and that will last more than one season. Avoid really cheap bags. When it comes to the quality you have to pay for it. Production of really high quality sleeping bags is not cheap. Some expedition bags are made to order and hand filled with down after you pay for them. That increases the cost, but also significantly increases the quality of the bag.
