Real estate agent, homeowner robbed in La Jolla

San Diego police today sought help in identifying a man who robbed a real estate agent at a La Jolla home and shot at the homeowner as he fled.

A woman had just shown a Hillside Drive home to a potential buyer on Aug. 1 when the gun-wielding suspect came in through the unlocked front door about 6:15 p.m., San Diego police said.

The robber asked if the home had a safe and demanded jewelry, police said.

The bandit took some jewelry from drawers in the master bedroom, took the real estate agent?s telephone and told her to stay in there, police said.

The crook was seen fleeing with some fur coats by the homeowner, who yelled at him, causing the him to drop the furs and fire twice at the man?s feet, police said.

Some pieces of concrete kicked up the impact of the bullets struck the man in his face, but he was not believed to be seriously hurt.

The gunman got away in a small black two-door last seen going west, police said.

Police described the robber as a white man in his 40s with short, wavy, dark blond hair. He was about 5 feet 10 inches and 165 pounds, with a thin to medium build.

He was clean shaven, wore dark clothes and carried a black backpack.
