Small businesses created 30,000 jobs in August

The U.S. small business community created 30,000 jobs in August, according to the latest statistics from Intuit.

The U.S. small business community created 30,000 jobs in August, according to the latest statistics from Intuit.

The U.S. payroll provider?s latest monthly Small Business Index also reported that August?s overall increase in employment in the small business sector was 0.16 percent over July.

Average employee compensation also increased 0.08 percent over July, at $2,737 per month compared to the previous month?s $2,735 per month. Hours worked showed a decrease of 0.6 percent from July.

Intuit bases its monthly reports on a pool of data drawn anonymously from about 70,000 small business employers who use Intuit?s Online Payroll services.
