LE MARS -- Sarah Parkinson ripped two home runs - including a grand slam in the sixth inning - as No. 1 Akron-Westfield smashed Gehlen Catholic for an 18-1, six-inning War Eagle Conference win Monday evening in Le Mars.Parkinson ripped a two-run shot over the centerfield fence in the top of the first to give the Lady Westerners a 2-0 advantage.
A-W led 3-1 after four innings and boosted its advantage to 6-1 with a three-spot in the top of the fifth.

Parkinson belted a grand slam to plate five of A-W's 12 runs in the sixth inning.The game ended after six complete innings by virtue of the 10-run rule.
Brandi Davis fanned 10 in six innings of work. She allowed one unearned run on two hits and two walks.
Amber Timmins suffered the loss for Gehlen. The junior allowed 17 runs on 14 hits and five walks in 5 1/3 innings of work. She struck out five and hit one batter.
Alison Schnepf tossed 2/3 of an inning of relief, allowing two hits, walking one and striking out one.
Steph Rohe had the only two hits for the Lady Jays (12-8, 6-3), who host Hinton in WEC play Tuesday. A-W improves to 11-0 in the league and 18-1 on the season.
